Farewell to K9 Super Sniffer Dan

05/09/2024

This past weekend was filled with mixed emotions as we bid a bittersweet farewell to K9 Super Sniffer Dan, who faithfully served as one of our Endangered Species Detection Dogs alongside his handler for an impressive six years.

As we celebrate Dan's well-deserved retirement, we also take the time to reflect on the incredible contributions he made to our conservation efforts. His unwavering dedication and exceptional skills have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on our team and the environment.

Dan has retired as a remarkable K9 Officer and will now spend his days exploring the gardens at KPNR Headquarters and its surroundings. Thank you, Dan, for your years of dedicated service. Enjoy your well-earned retirement; you've truly been a hero to us all.

Dan

In the wake of Dan's retirement, we are excited to introduce two new K9 SUPER SNIFFERS to our team. Landza the Doberhound, and Panga the Dutch Shepherd dog, have undergone extensive training to hone their incredible human scent tracking and detection skills. These two enthusiastic recruits have already shown exceptional promise, demonstrating remarkable abilities in human scent tracking and detecting the subtle scents of endangered species contraband, including rhino horn, ivory, pangolin scales, weapons, and ammunition, in various environments.

We are confident that Landza and Panga will continue the legacy of excellence established by their predecessor, Dan. As we welcome these two new heroes, we look forward to the positive impact they will undoubtedly make in the years to come, continuing the important work of preserving our precious wildlife. Join us in bidding a fond farewell to Dan and welcoming Landza and Panga to the KPNR team. Here's to a bright future filled with continued success in our conservation efforts.
