Conservation is at the heart of the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. It is what we do. Through science led research, ecological monitoring and wildlife preservation, we safeguard biodiversity and ecological processes to conserve this landscape, ensuring the long-term sustainability of an ecosystem where the wild continues to thrive.
The reserve was established to conserve a piece of pristine wilderness in Southern Africa, and that purpose guides every decision made across the reserve today. All development within the reserve is monitored and managed through progressive and responsible environmental impact policies designed to ensure sustainability and limit activities which might have a negative environmental impact.
All species can thrive under the protection offered by the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve but the protection of threatened species requires a dedicated counter poaching unit working around the clock. Trained and equipped Field rangers, a K9 unit, aerial surveillance and a host of modern technology all combine to provide protection for rhinos and other threatened species living across this vast terrain.
Through Membership contributions and the KPNR Rhino Protection Fund, conservation initiatives such as academic research grants, internships, ranger training, upgrading technologies and rhino dehorning are funded. It is thanks to a nature loving community of members and donors that this work continues, season after season. Every contribution helps safeguard the long-term future of an entire ecosystem.
