In 1969, 36 farm owners made a decision that would define this landscape forever. Rather than fence off their individual properties, they chose to merge their land and unite as one, forming the 60,000-hectare tract of wilderness now known as the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. Over 50 years later, that same spirit of unity endures. The Klaserie’s unfenced boundaries connect it to the Kruger National Park and beyond to the Great Limpopo Transfronteir Park (an area exceeding 3.5 million hectares), allowing wildlife to move exactly as it always has, freely and without limitation.

The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve is a place steeped in history, where the connection between people and their wild roots is honoured and celebrated. Every ridge, riverbed and open plain carries a story: of the families who first called this land home, of the wildlife that has always moved through it, and of a shared vision to protect something far greater than any single farm or boundary.
