The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve exists through authentic, impactful collaboration. Landowners, management, conservationists, commercial partners, and neighbouring communities and reserves work together as one, to protect a landscape far greater than any boundary, ensuring the resilience and future of this breathtaking ecosystem.

What began in 1969 as an agreement between 36 farm owners has grown into something much larger. Today, the Klaserie shares unfenced boundaries with the Umbabat, Timbavati and Balule Game Reserves to form the 200 000 hectare Association of Private Nature Reserves, which then combines with other reserves including Sabi Sands, Manyaleti and more to form the Greater Kruger, a free-flowing tract of protected wilderness spanning well over 2 million hectares. None of the reserves that make up this landscape could achieve on their own what they achieve together.

That same spirit of collaboration runs through every level of the Klaserie: landowners and management working alongside conservationists and field teams, commercial lodge partners supporting the reserve’s broader vision, and neighbouring communities engaged as genuine partners in its future. It is this willingness to work as one, rather than as many separate parts, that combines to protect a landscape far greater than any single boundary, and that will carry the Klaserie’s story into its next fifty years.
